Careers
Welcome to our Careers page; over the next month we are updating all our links and Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG). At Holy Trinity School, we are committed to helping every student feel confident about their next steps—whether that’s higher or further education, apprenticeships, training, or entering the world of work. Our careers programme is built around the Gatsby Benchmarks, a nationally recognised framework that defines what excellent careers guidance looks like in schools. There are eight Gatsby Benchmarks, summarised below.
Our Aim
We want every student to leave school with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take their next step, and to be able to flourish in this aspect of their journey with us. Our careers programme is here to inspire ambition, raise aspirations, and open doors to the exciting opportunities ahead. We firmly believe that there is a pathway for all learners, and we aim to work collaboratively with parents and carers to achieve this.
For further information, please contact Miss L. McMenamin, Careers Leader (lmcmenamin@holytrinitycrawley.org.uk), or use the feedback links in the quick links area.
The Gatsby Benchmarks at Holy Trinity School
1. A Stable Careers Programme
We provide a clear, structured careers programme for all year groups. It is regularly reviewed, shared with parents and employers, and tailored to support every student.
Please take a few minutes to get in touch via our feedback link here; we would be delighted to hear from parents, former students and employers, and we would be thrilled if you are able to contribute to our careers programme.
2. Learning From Career & Labour Market Information
Students and families have access to up-to-date information about job opportunities, future skills, and local and national career trends. This helps every young person make informed decisions about their next steps. The most recent regional labour market information is here.
3. Addressing the Needs of Each Pupil
Our careers support is personalised. We track students’ interests and ambitions, and ensure that guidance reflects their individual needs and aspirations. Our Cultural Capital Programme and Curriculum Enhance Days provide termly opportunities for our learners to explore the wider world, and build their understanding of careers and jobs beyond the school doors.
4. Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers
Teachers highlight how subjects connect to real jobs and life beyond school. This makes learning more meaningful and helps students understand the value of the skills they are building; this is especially so during events such as Open Evenings, Year 9 Options Evening and our Opportunities in the 6th Form evening, students have the chance to discuss curriculum offerings in detail.
5. Encounters With Employers and Employees
Students meet employers through talks, workshops, assemblies, and events. These experiences help them explore different industries and broaden their horizons.
6. Experiences of Workplaces
We provide opportunities for students to experience real workplaces—through visits, virtual experiences, or work placements—so they can see what different careers are like day to day.
7. Encounters With Further and Higher Education
Students learn about all the pathways available after school. This includes college courses, T-Levels, apprenticeships, and university routes. Employers such as Thales, BDO and Gatwick Airport are regular contributors to the HTS careers programme so far this academic year.
8. Personal Guidance
Every student has access to independent, one-to-one careers guidance from a qualified advisor to help them explore options, set goals, and plan their future. We truly value the level of expertise of our careers advisors and careers conversation continue after interviews until learners have made decisions about their future. We work closely with West Sussex County Council to provide support for students more at risk of NEET and wherever possible, offer tailored careers interventions for learners requiring a more personalised pathway in key stage 4.
