School Meals

The Chichester Refectory
At Holy Trinity we have a purpose built refectory and kitchen, serving a wide variety of affordable main meals and light snacks. Our catering partners, Nourish, provide a fast, friendly service and all food is freshly cooked and prepared on the premises. The menus are usually changed on a termly basis.
Cashless Payment System
We have a cashless payment system for our school meals. It enables us to deliver a much faster service in The Refectory and does away with the need for you to send your child into school with cash every day. It also ensures that money is spent as you intend.
Setting Up a Biometric Account for The Refectory:
If students wish to buy food and drink from The Refectory, the following steps must be completed to create a Biometric account:
A parent or carer must complete and sign the ‘Consent Form – For the Use of Biometric Information in School’.
- To download the form, click here.
- Forms are also available upon request by emailing sdigan@holytrinitycrawley.org.uk.
Note: Although the forms are included in the registration packs, you can access them at any time using the link provided, if you want to withdraw consent or have lost the original form
The consent form contains full details about how the Biometric system works and how the information will be used and stored in line with GDPR guidelines.
Once the form is completed and signed it must be sent to Mrs Digan at sdigan@holytrinitycrawley.org.uk.
A scan of their finger or thumb will be taken, and their Biometric account will be created.
Topping up Your Child’s Account
Once the Biometric account is set up, you can add money using one of the following methods:
a) Online Payment
Use a debit or credit card through the school’s online payment system – Tucasi Scopay.
Instructions can be found in the Internet Payments section.
This method allows you to:
- Monitor your child’s spending in The Refectory
- View their purchase history
b) Cash Top-Up
Students can add money using the revaluation machine, located at the entrance to The Refectory.
(See photo below.)

You may credit the account with any amount, though monthly, half-termly, or termly payments are preferred.
There is a daily spending limit of £4. For example, you may choose to credit your child’s account with £30, but no more than £4 can be spent in a single day. This limit can be adjusted upon request by a parent or carer through the Finance Team. financeofficer@holytrinitycrawley.org.uk.
To obtain a meal, students collect a tray and cutlery, choose their food, and proceed to the till, where a biometric scan of their finger or thumb is taken and the cost is deducted from their account.
Important Information:
- Students are responsible for monitoring their account balance, as credit is not available at The Refectory.
- Before making a purchase, students must ensure they have sufficient funds in their account. Those without adequate funds will not be served and will be directed to the Finance Office.
- All payments or queries related to The Refectory should be made before the end of break i.e (11:30am).
Free School Meals
If your child is entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), they will still need to create a meal account as part of the cashless payment system, as explained on the left. Once the account is set up, their daily FSM allowance (currently £2.90) will be available to spend each day. Please note: this allowance does not appear on the student’s visible account balance.
The system operates in the same way as for other students, but any unspent allowance does not carry over to the following day.
Parents and carers may choose to “top up” the account if they wish to enable their child to make additional purchases beyond the free meal allowance.
Free school meals are available at Holy Trinity School if you receive any of these benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support from National Asylum Support Service (NASS) under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guaranteed element of state Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on
- Universal Credit.
